Chessie Award Winning Film Joins Bermuda Pride Cruise

“Assume Spooning Position!” is the memorable catchphrase of Drowsy’s SmartBed (left), the animated antagonist in the film “Spooners”. If you haven’t seen this award winning comedy, you’re in for a treat. In 2013, the film won The Seattle International Film Festival’s Golden Space Needle award for best short film and CineSLAM’s prestigious Chessie Award for best film. The Chessie Award sponsors the winning filmmaker on an upcoming Pride of the Ocean cruise.

Bryan Horch, who directed “Spooners” with Assistant Director Elizabeth Ellis (right), will be aboard Pride of the Ocean’s June Pride cruise from New York to Bermuda June 1-8, 2014 to screen “Spooners”, as well as talk about his upcoming projects.

A New England native, Bryan memorably used local actors and local businesses to create the unique look and feel of “Spooners”, which made it a favorite at the New England based CineSLAM Film Festival, where many audience members recognized people and places in the film. The two lead actors, Ben Lerman and Walter Replogle (left), have a winning onscreen chemistry as the film’s married couple shopping for a new mattress.
