Dorothy Allison
writer, poet, novelist
is an American writer, speaker, and member of the Fellowship of Southern Writers. Her writing includes themes of class struggle, sexual abuse, child abuse, feminism and lesbianism. Allison’s first novel, the semi-autobiographical Bastard Out of Carolina, was published in 1992 and was one of five finalists for the 1992 National Book Award.

Coya White Hat-Artichoker
author, activist
is a proud enrolled member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe. Coya has been working doing activist work in various communities and movements since the age of 15. She is a founding member of the First Nations Two Spirit Collective; they are a Collective working to building a stronger political presence for Two Spirit people.

is an American attorney and former corporate executive who chaired the board of directors of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force from 1992-1994. She served as the Executive Director of the Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest LGBT organization, from January 1995 until January 2004.
The Right Reverend Gene Robinson, recently retired Episcopal Bishop of New Hampshire, is widely known as the first priest in an openly gay relationship to be consecrated a bishop in a major Christian denomination. His consecration paved the way for acceptance of other LGBT clergy in the Episcopal Church, but not without its share of controversy and conflict, including threats on his life and threats to the unity of the Episcopal church.
Starting off our programming on spirituality will be a screening of Daniel Karslake’s film, “For the Bible Tells Me So” which profiles Bishop Gene Robinson as one of its subjects. Bishop Robinson will subsequently be leading a panel discussion entitled, “LGBT Spirituality & Activism Since Stonewall: How have different faith traditions depicted on film and in reality helped or hindered LGBT acceptance since 1969?” Invited to join Robinson on the panel discussion is Rabbi Sharon Kleinbaum, named one of the 50 most influential rabbis in America by Newsweek for six years (2007-2012).
