PRIDE OF THE OCEAN TURNS 10

As Pride of the Oceans sets sail on its 50th Anniversary of Stonewall cruise from New York to Canada & New England then into dry dock, it will be remembered by its wonderful filmmakers and films that have been   workshopped and screening in the last ten years as part of the CineSLAM film seminar program aboard Pride of the Ocean. This has truly been its outstanding legacy. Here are just a few of the fine films we’ve been privileged to host over the years with many thanks to Susi Walsh, Executive Director of The Center for Independent Documentary and to The Chessie Foundation for their stewardship of the CineSLAM film seminars on Pride of the Ocean.

1st Pride of the Ocean Bermuda 2010
During our past 10 cruises, traveling in the good companyof Pride of the Ocean’s fellow passengers has not only engendered enduring friendships, both personal and professional, but has even resulted in several long-term romantic relationships along the way.
We will be announcing future plans for the Kopkind/CID’s CineSLAM film seminar program, which will be reorganizing into its on-land version.  A big Thank You to the Chessie Foundation for its support over the past 10 years.

If you would like to support our film seminar programs as well, we hope you’ll consider purchasing your copy of Pride of the Ocean’s Shorts (& Bikinis) DVD collection.

9 Pride of the Ocean filmmakers have graciously donated 12 of their short films to our first DVD compilation of short films, including fan favorites, Spooners by Bryan Horch, Happy Hour by Becky Lane, and Float by Sam Berliner, with net proceeds benefitting The Center for Independent Documentary.
