Creating Waves of Change: Films with a Cause
How do non-profits and NGO’s like PFLAG or Amnesty International use films and short web videos to spread their messages, build membership and conduct outreach for their mission? House parties? Block Parties? Center Movements? Video feeds at Occupy Everywhere?
Have you ever been motivated after watching a great film to take action? Are you looking for a way to get involved? Join top filmmakers and learn how you can make a difference through grassroots efforts to promote content for a cause, and how you can be part of active audience after the lights go up.

Jeffrey Schwarz’s “Vito” will be among the many important films in the Pride of the Ocean 2012 program. The film just premiered at the 49th New York Film Festival. We look forward to having Jeffrey on board the Celebrity Summit with us in June 2012 for our 3rd Annual Film Festival cruise.
This year marks the 20th season of the first LGBT program on public television. In The Life was created by our Program Director, John Scagliotti, with the intention of creating a public voice for the LGBT Community. Since its first program, In The Life has changed the lives of thousands, if not millions of Gay, Lesbian, and Transgender people across the country.
To celebrate this achievement, Pride of the Ocean has included a special tribute ad in the Commemorative Program for the In The Life 20th Season Red Carpet Premiere.
With an international audience of festival directors, filmmakers, and film lovers, Pride of the Ocean 2011 was a tremendous success! For a glimpse of some of the films from 2011, and a preview into 2012, click here.
