On the very first Pride of the Ocean cruise, Madeleine Olnek workshopped scenes from her award-winning film, CODEPENDENT LESBIAN SPACE ALIEN SEEKS SAME, which went on to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival.

On the auspicious night of June 24, 2011, the film played at the Rooftop Film Festival in New York City. When Madeleine took the stage for the Q&A session following the film, she announced to the audience that Gay Marriage Equality had just been passed in New York State.

To celebrate Pride of the Ocean’s 10th anniversary and its longstanding tradition of being an incubator for new films, Madeleine returns to Pride of the Ocean for a reunion screening of the full CODEPENDENT LESBIAN SPACE ALIEN SEEKS SAME film. Always a crowd pleaser, you won’t want to miss the fun on Pride of the Ocean’s 10th anniversary cruise March 4-12, 2017.

Is the Changing Cultural Zeitgeist Affecting Gender Identity Politics?

butchmystique DebraWilsonHeadshot320x240

Debra A. Wilson made her national debut with her award-winning film BUTCH MYSTIQUE, exploring the lives of butch identified black lesbians, and screening in over 30 film festivals worldwide since its premiere in 2004.

BEYOND THE BUTCH MYSTIQUE
is a work-in-progress follow up to that film and which reconnects with 5 individuals from the original film. Two of the then butch identified women now identify as transgender men.

The state of gender identity has evolved over the years but not without some conflict between transgender men and butch identified lesbians who feel pressure to identify as men, or assume the transgender label.

You can see a sample cut of BEYOND THE BUTCH MYSTIQUE on Pride of the Ocean’s 10th anniversary cruise March 4-12, 2017.

“Darling, I want my gay rights now!” And forever.

MarshaJohnson640x480 2fb20b61-9f46-401f-a818-9270da38c853

“Darling, I want my gay rights now!” the famous 1969 rallying cry by transgender activist Marsha P. Johnson, as depicted in the film, AFTER STONEWALL, resonates today as those rights are in danger of being taken away from us in light of recent events.

As society continues to grapple with issues of transgender acceptance and understanding, Mark Saxenmeyer’s film, THE QUEENS takes viewers out of the politics and onto the stage with an exclusive look inside the U.S.’ most prestigious, longest-running female impersonator beauty pageant. THE QUEENS humanizes and demystifies this group of primarily transgender individuals who are often misunderstood; they’re a determined and creative group who recognize the power of showcasing their talent and imagination.

Mark Saxenmeyer, brings his acclaimed film THE QUEENS to Pride of the Ocean’s 10th anniversary cruise March 4-12, 2017.
